A new seminar series was introduced to the Neuro Global Program. I was given a slot to present my research during the 3rd seminar, which was held online via ZOOM on Oct 12th, 2020. NGP students are given 7 minutes each to present their research, which is followed by some time for discussions and Q&A with other NGP students and professors.

In this seminar, approximately one fourth of the NGP students gave a presentation and I was among them. Through this presentation, I learned the importance of a clear explanation of my study, especially within a limited time. I realized that, to convey the concept of the study in a very short time, I had to limit the data to the very essential ones. This is a very different task from completing a full manuscript for publication. I also realized that the audiences in this meeting were from various research fields. A detailed background information was necessary for people to comprehend my idea and data in a specialized field of cell physiology of neurons and astrocytes. I was also grateful to receive a lot of profound questions after the talk, which would certainly benefit to improve my Ph.D. thesis.

We are currently facing a global COVID crisis. Chances to participate and present in international meetings are much less than the past. Thus, I think this NGP online seminar series is a great opportunity for us to practice our presentation skills for the international academic meetings, which we will be able to participate in the very near future. In addition, through this seminar, I was also able to appreciate research studies from other NGP students from different research areas from mine. By taking this opportunity, I am determined to pay more attention to various research fields to broaden my perspectives.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most classes have changed to online and this was the first time I presented my research to other researchers via online. In in-person presentations, gestures can be used to explain the content of the presentation more clearly, but these are limited in online. This class was a good opportunity for me to learn not only about the research of other researchers, but also how to communicate my own research in a way that is easy to understand.

Due to the influence of the coronavirus, neuroglobal lectures were given online.
I learned a lot of things through the presentations of other program students.
At first, it is a point to convey your research to those who major in other fields. I felt that the background of the research was important for explaining to people outside the field. Actually, the easy-to-understand presentation clearly explained the background of their research. In addition, there was a lively question and answer session for such presentation. I thought that making an easy-to-understand presentation would be beneficial not only to the listener but also to the presenter in that it would give a lot of feedback.
Next, I was inspired by the appearance of the program students working on the research and motivated me to do my research. Due to the influence of the coronavirus, many seminars and exchange meetings were canceled, and the chances of getting in touch with other people's research were greatly reduced. Meanwhile, I was greatly inspired by the research of the program students and the active exchange of opinions. I felt that the process of presenting the research content and receiving opinions is important not only for brushing up the research but also for motivation in advancing the research.
I want to make use of what I learned in the lecture to improve my research.
